Peter Wilson Remembers Early 1950's @ Beenham Lodge

Peter Wilson found this Blog out of the blue and asked if I'd like to put some of his Mother and Aunt's Photo's here. They're a good look into the early 1950's of Beenham Lodge so please enjoy :-)

I've included an excerpt from his E-mail to give you some sort of context:

"Well I still can’t believe that it’s over 50yrs since these photos were taken and I’ve been able to track someone down who is associated with this place! The photos belonged to my Aunty Madge who travelled with my Mum Joan from New Zealand and ended up in England. I am digitising them for the family.

I’m guessing that Madge worked there for a while, perhaps to earn a bit more money to continue her travels. Mum came back pretty soon after this and got married – I was born in 1958. Both Madge and Joan died many years ago".

  1. Music lessons and young ladies. A very different era to when I was there in summer 1967. I remember the excursions to the Abbey for mass (I was in the Catholic group) but on the upside they had a indoor swimming pool where I first learnt to swim.
